Hello and welcome to the 2026 Track and Field season! We are excited to begin the season and are looking forward to working with your child(ren). We hope this will be a fun, positive, and rewarding experience for all athletes involved.
Any student interested in trying out for the MMS Track and Field team must have an up-to-date physical on file before participating in tryouts or practices. In addition, each athlete must submit a completed registration form on the first day of tryouts. Registration forms can be found on the school website. The deadline for physicals is March 4th.
After school, all athletes will change into running attire and meet in Mini Gym B before heading out to the back fields for practice.
Tryout Information
Our first tryout will take place on Monday, March 16th. Please note that tryouts for each event will only be held on the dates listed below, unless weather requires a change. Athletes may try out for multiple events.

General Information
- Practices are held Monday through Friday from 2:30–4:00 PM, unless otherwise noted.
- Athletes will meet immediately after school in Mini Gym B.
- Students must be signed out promptly at 4:00 PM at the first underpass (front of MMS) by a parent or approved guardian.
- A full schedule of practices and meets will be posted on the Track & Field Google Classroom once finalized. Athletes should check this regularly, as some days will involve event-specific practices only.
- The season runs through the end of May.
Attendance Expectations
- If a student misses the day before a meet, they may still attend the meet but will not be carded.
- Students who miss three or more practices and/or meets may be removed from the team.
- We encourage athletes to attend all practices and meets so they can continue to grow, improve, and contribute to the team.
Meets
- Making the team does not guarantee that an athlete will be carded (scored) in an event.
- Athletes are expected to remain for all scheduled events at each meet. If an athlete cannot stay for the full meet, coaches must be notified in advance.
- Home meets are held at Marlboro High School. Athletes will be bussed there but will not be bussed back. Pickup and sign-out will take place at the high school.
- Away meets: Athletes will be bussed back to Marlboro Middle School, but may also be signed out by a parent or approved individual at the meet location.
Season Expectations
- Physical paperwork must be submitted to the nurse by March 4th.
- Wear appropriate running sneakers and socks (Converse All-Stars are not recommended for running).
- Bring a labeled water bottle to every practice.
- Dress for the weather—early season practices can still be cold.
- Bring a sweatshirt or warm layer to meets.
- Pack a small, appropriate snack (pretzels, granola bars, etc.).
- If your child cannot attend practice, we kindly ask that a parent or guardian notify us in writing by emailing Coach Bosland and Coach Veverka.
- Please label all personal belongings, as athletes are responsible for their own items.
- Most importantly—come ready to work hard, support teammates, and have fun!
We are looking forward to a great season and appreciate your continued support. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Coach Veverka & Coach Bosland
