EXTRACURRICULAR CLUBS
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) CLUB - The American Sign Language club offers students the opportunity for exposure to ASL and Deaf culture. Through weekly vocabulary lessons and interactive games, students will learn the fundamentals of sign language, the history of ASL, and learn about the Deaf Community. Our club provides a supportive, inclusive environment for students of all levels to learn and practice together. The ASL club will meet Mondays beginning 9/27 through March 2026.

ART SCENERY - Grades 7-8 - During meetings, students will work together to create additional sets, props, and promotional posters for the school musical. Construction, painting, and scenery are some of the activities involved. Additionally, applications will be available for 8th grade students to assist with handing out playbills, collecting tickets and ushering attendees to their seats on the night of the performances. The club will run from late September to February.

CHESS CLUB - Open to players of all abilities, especially those interested in learning how to play the iconic game of chess! Improve focus, memory, and strategic thinking in a low-pressure environment. Learn strategies & tactics and gain confidence in the game - fun comes first! All meetings will be held in Room 241.

CRAFT CLUB - Meeting times are from 2:15 - 3:45 pm. All students are eligible to join. Students will have the opportunity to use their imagination to create fun projects and crafts. Students will learn creative ways to reuse and recycle materials. Club members will gain the opportunity to make new friends with common interests.

COMPUTER CLUB - The Computer Club enables students of all grade levels to explore the computer in an open setting. Students will use a variety of software to engage in diverse activities such as desktop publishing, web-page design, gaming and the exploration of coding software. Additionally, it is also an open lab for students to conduct research, and complete homework/projects. Please be aware that we will be using the Internet.

DANCE CLUB - Whether you are a seasoned dancer or just starting out, dance club is open to students of all grade levels. Each week we will explore a different theme through dance. Students will learn basic choreography, practice team building activities, and build confidence through creative movement. Students will get the chance to choreograph their own routines and perform for their peers during an end of season celebration. Sports physicals are required. Please check the school website for specific dates and times.

DEBATE CLUB - This club is open to students of all grade levels who are enthusiastic and looking to improve their speaking and language arts skills while having fun. Debaters will work as a team to make and support assertions, conduct research to gather effective evidence, analyze and critique arguments, and conduct speeches. If you are outspoken, like to argue, or are looking to increase argumentative skills, this is the club for you! Meetings take place on certain Thursdays of each month (check the school website for specific dates) and run from 2:20-3:35.

DIGITAL ART CLUB - In the digital art club, students will be invited to learn ways to create engaging and fun art using various digital platforms, IPads, and drawing tablets. Students will be presented with design problems to solve creatively as well as given free time to experiment with digital tools. Additionally, students will have opportunities to design school posters and promotional media while learning about potential opportunities and careers in digital art and design.

FITNESS CLUB - This club is open to all students. Students who join the fitness club will enjoy working out with friends and achieving their fitness goals. Activities will vary based on student interest. Examples are fitness stations, high cardio activities, and team/individual based games. This club will meet after school in the main gym from 2:30-4:00 pm. Sports physicals are required.

GAMING CLUB - This club is open to all students who are interested in various types of games. Students who join the gaming club have the opportunity to enjoy playing games with their peers. We are so excited to report that we have multiple video-game consoles and games available for students’ enjoyment, as well as new additions like decks of playing cards and board games. The club will meet after school in the Media Center from 2:15-3:15.

HEALTHY FUTURES CLUB - This club is open to all students who are interested in learning about basic first aid, life-threatening emergencies, and how to help someone in the event of an emergency. This club will be a fun, hands-on experience and will include a community service project to be run by the students to help our local community. Scheduled meeting dates for the 2025-2026 school year are as follows:TBD. Meetings will be held from 2:20-3:45pm in the Nurses Office.

MATH CLUB - In the Math Club students put their math and problem solving skills to the test as they compete in school, county, state, and national competitions. Team practices and competitions will be held throughout the school year with dates to be announced. The math club is open to all grades though there may be some meetings held separately for different grade levels. Students should attend the first meeting for more information about the club and competition dates.

PING PONG CLUB - Meeting times are from 2:20-3:45 pm. Dates TBA. This club meets to have fun, learn ping pong game strategies, and participate in tournaments during each scheduled session. This club is open to all interested students.

SCHOOL MUSICAL - The school musical this year is Once Upon A Mattress. All students are encouraged to come try out for this exciting activity. We are looking for actors, dancers and singers. Auditions dates are September 29th AND 30th from 2:20-4pm. Students must attend BOTH audition days. Callback auditions are October 6th OR October 7th from 2:20-4pm. Students who are called back will be asked to attend ONE of those dates. Rehearsals will generally be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:20-4pm. Rehearsals begin in mid-October, culminating with a production held on Friday, February 27th at 7pm and Saturday, February 28th at 12pm & 4pm.

SCIENCE CLUB - Science: It's like magic, only real! If you like hands-on science experiments, this is the right club for you. We will be exploring all different fields of science over the course of the year including Physics, Chemistry, Animal Science, Environmental Science, Forensics, and more. Remember, the important thing is to never stop questioning. Meetings take place in room 306 from 2:20 to 3:30.

STOCK MARKET CLUB - Calling all future Wall Street wizards! Are you ready to put your financial savvy to the test? Join the Stock Market Game Club and learn the ropes of investing, in a fun and educational way. How much do you think you can make $100,000 grow in the stock market over the next school year? The Stock Market Club is a club open to all students who want to work together to create and manage a virtual investment portfolio of real world stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Each individual or team is responsible for researching and evaluating potential investments. Club members are given a virtual cash account through the Stock Market Game, with the aim to teach the basics of how the stock market operates and the importance of financial literacy. Club members will have an opportunity to participate in a national essay contest about their knowledge of the stock market, with cash prizes awarded to the national winners. Participants will meet throughout the school year to simulate trades in real-time using current market data, weekly meetings will focus on a new topic as well as current trends in the market. Club members can work in teams to make investment decisions, promoting collaboration and critical thinking.

STUDENT COUNCIL - Student Council offers a meaningful opportunity for students to develop real-world leadership skills. Members learn to collaborate, communicate effectively, and take initiative on school-wide projects. Whether they’re organizing events or leading by example, Student Council members grow into confident, responsible leaders. The council plays a vital role in promoting school spirit, planning important events, and spreading kindness throughout both our school and the greater community. Students from all grades are encouraged to join and serve as representatives of their peers. Our student officers—including the president and vice president—are elected by the entire school, while the chief of staff is selected by the advisors. Each year, Student Council hosts a Thanksgiving Food Drive and collects donations for Toys for Tots—two efforts that help spread holiday cheer and support local families in need. We also partner with the PTO to organize exciting fundraisers that directly benefit our school community. If you’re someone who wants to make a difference, share your ideas, and help lead your peers, Student Council is the perfect place to start!

YEARBOOK CLUB - All students are invited to join this club and work on the MMS Yearbook. The only requirements are enthusiasm, ambition, and the desire to work. Students will have an opportunity to learn the Yearbook Avenue Website to create layouts, upload pictures, write captions and edit pages. Additionally, students will help with advertising the yearbook. Students who are artistic and enjoy creative writing are encouraged to join! Meetings are held from 2:20-3:30 pm in room 236.

6th GRADE STEM CLUB - The 6th Grade STEM Club gives students the opportunity to explore the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math by completing various hands-on challenges throughout the school year. During weekly club meetings, students will work collaboratively to successfully complete engineering design challenges based on the criteria and constraints given.

7th AND 8th GRADE STEM CLUB (TSA) - The STEM Club for grades 7 and 8 runs as a nationally recognized chapter of TSA, the Technology Student Association, in which students have the opportunity to submit projects and participate in the NJ Middle School State Conference each spring. During club meetings, students will use problem solving skills to design and create solutions for a wide variety of TSA approved projects in preparation for this competition. Please note that there is an additional fee for your child to be registered at the state and national level as a Technology Student Association member (approximately $16 per child).
